Kentucky Insurance Continue Education Requirements
Continuing Education Hours
Twenty Four (24) CE credit hours are required biennially. Up to 12 hours
may be self-study, the remainder must be classroom. Must include 2
hours of ethics and at least 6 hours in one or more of the agent's
active lines.
Continuing Education Compliance Date
June 30th even numbered years for residents.
June 30th odd numbered years for non-residents.
License Renewal Date
March 31st odd numbered years for Life and Health
March 31st of even numbered years for Property & Casualty.
Type of courses accepted for CE Credit
Independent self study courses or classroom
Course Subject Requirements
At least 6 hours in one of the lines of authority for which agent is
licensed. 2 hours of ethics must also be included and the remaining
16 hours may be taken in any Kentucky approved course.
Only 12 hours may be self-study. The remainder must be classroom.
Carryover Requirements
A maximum of 12 classroom hours may be carried over to the next reporting
period.
Course Repetition
Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in a 2 year period.
Final Exam
Self-study final exams are not required to be monitored.
Exemptions
• Individuals with a limited line license for which an exam
is not required.
• Individuals licensed less than a year at the time of compliance.
• Adjusters
• Solicitors with limited licenses
