Course Description
This course is an introduction to the commercial appraisal. The purpose of this course is to provide the reader with a better understanding of the valuation process relative to commercial properties. The course is written from the perspective of the real estate
appraiser and assumes a certain basic understanding of real estate appraisal. The first
sections will deal with basic appraisal concepts as they pertain to a commercial
appraisal. The later sections of the course will focus on topics more specific to income
properties.
Learning Objectives
After completing this course, real estate professionals will be able to
- Describe the characteristics of a commercial appraisal
- Discuss the commercial real estate market
- Apply principles of value
- Explain the concept of highest and best use
- Define and discuss data sources
- Recognize how investors perceive and forecast and analyze the potential
income stream of a property, providing the basis for the appraisal process used
to value income property
